University Days of Action

A nationwide call for change. The march was just the beginning. Now we’re taking the movement to universities.

The movement continues on campus.

In September 2026, we marched 207 miles from Albany, New York, to Marshall BioResources, raising our voices for animals suffering behind laboratory doors. Our work is far from over.

On December 3, the March to Abolish Animal Testing is bringing that same determination to university campuses across the country. Volunteer-led teams will organize peaceful demonstrations at participating universities.

Together, we’ll demand an end to animal experimentation and call on universities to embrace better science without animal suffering.

Multiple Universities. One United Voice.

Why universities?

Every year, animals are bred, confined, and used in research and experiments at universities across the country. Many students, alumni, and donors may be unaware of the animal research taking place at institutions they attend or support.

Meanwhile, advances in human-relevant, non-animal research methods are creating new opportunities to improve scientific research without relying on animal suffering. Universities should be leading this progress.

We’re calling on university administrations to prioritize the development, adoption, and funding of non-animal methods and establish meaningful plans to replace animal experimentation.

Scientific progress should not come at the expense of animal lives.

What the actions will do

This is more than a series of demonstrations. It’s the beginning of a coordinated effort to hold universities accountable and encourage meaningful progress.

  • Raise awareness about animal experimentation at universities.
  • Educate students and the public about human-relevant, non-animal research methods.
  • Build support among students, faculty, alumni, and university donors.
  • Demand meaningful commitments from university administrators to transition away from animal experimentation.
  • Call on universities that purchase animals from Marshall BioResources to end those relationships.
  • Collect signatures on university-specific letters calling for change.

Your leadership can make a difference.

Become a University Action Captain

We’re looking for volunteer captains across the country to help bring this movement to university campuses nationwide.

You don’t have to be a student or have previous organizing experience. Whether you’re a student, alumnus, experienced advocate, local community member, or simply someone who believes animals deserve better, we invite you to step forward.

As a captain, you’ll help bring advocates together, coordinate a peaceful demonstration at a university of your choice, and amplify our shared message. You won’t be doing it alone: MAAT’s organizing team will provide guidance, resources, campaign materials, and nonviolence protocols, and support you every step of the way.

Complete the Captain Interest Form, and a member of our organizing team will be in touch about next steps.

The action doesn’t end December 3.

Our demonstrations are only the first step. Throughout December and into January, we’ll continue building support through student engagement, alumni and donor outreach, and our Home for the Holidays campaign, highlighting rescued laboratory animals now enjoying the loving homes every animal deserves.

When students return for the spring semester, we’ll deliver signed letters and petitions to university administrations, calling for meaningful commitments and measurable change. Our message will not disappear when the demonstrations end.

Students. Alumni. Faculty. Advocates. Animal lovers. Everyone has a role to play. Whether you lead an action, join a demonstration, help spread awareness, or add your voice to a letter demanding change, you can help build a future where scientific advancement no longer depends on animal suffering.

Until Every Cage Is Empty.
